I normally think strikes are lame. But I'll support them on this one. Anything to get the powers to assess if a zero-value war is really worth it.
Part of me wants to think that this will make cycling more reasonable, and if I'll end up vindicated for getting more into that. I'm becoming increasingly anti-car. But then I remember that cycling just replaces gasoline fuel with food fuel. And rising gas prices makes food more expensive too. One's ability to move is tied to gasoline no matter what. Unless you live on a non-mechanized farm, and bike everywhere, you need gasoline to move no matter who you are.
In 2022 the origins of the Trucker Convoy were not organic. And the "blockade" was very obvious. I was suspicious, but we needed action visible to normies. Canada was not the first. Australia tried half a year before, much like many other nations for other purposes across the decades trucker resistance was utilized for change, like the Arab Spring. Even the USA tried to do a trucker thing shortly after the Canadian thing in Feb/March of 22 - but it was quickly squashed, Washington has truckers blocked off, and even the indie media dropped it.
Bicycling is good. Our demanding fast paced lives are not, let alone the obesity problem. Heaving fat people aside, not everyone is youthful, fit, or able enough to manage bicycling. And though I have a bicycle trailer and 95% of the parts I need for a bigger ebike trailer, it's not remotely as good as a car for transporting and securing any kind of load. Worst: I don't have a good way to store them away from the elements where I live.
That is true. Maybe I should take back my support of the strike. It will impact regular people more, just like a riot is people burning down their own city.
How do we fuck the system without fucking ourselves? We have to think about what the ruling class really wants. And then not give it to them.
Here's a controversial take on something they want. They want people to keep exchanging labor for paper they print. They really like that arrangement.
People are impacted.
People are just taking it.
People need to be impacted enough to shake their worship of authority and change the paradigm.
They already expect this.
Out of the frying pan into the fire.
Is there any other way?
The ruling class has everything they need and want.
They can easily buy out or wait out any problem.
The only thing left is full control of our minds for zero autonomy.
We're already less-than-slaves.
At least slaves are entitled to sustenance.
